The teams have been decided. The dates are set. The CEVO Counter-Strike 1.6 Professional Playoffs are about to begin.
Starting on Saturday, September 27th and ending on Sunday, September 28th, the playoffs are sure to be exciting as the top six teams from the regular season advance to play for a first place prize of $10,000.
Feel a little rusty on the teams? Not sure what or who to look out for? No problem. Below you can find the six teams qualified for the playoffs, as well as a brief rundown of each team.
#1 x3o 17-3
With an impressive four wins over everyone else during the season, x3o proved that they are in fact one of the top American 1.6 squads out there. Whether or not they can take the playoffs though is another question entirely.
x3o has been kind of quiet in the scene as of late. Not playing in the GotFrag Revival Tournament leaves it hard to judge just how well they are going to do against teams like EG and MoB. It’ll definitely be more than interesting just to see how far they make it.

#2 compLexity L.A. 15-7
Where to begin with a team like compLexity. By now if you do not know who this team is, you can not even begin to call yourself a fan of Counter-Strike.
Having been playing Source for so long in the CGS, compLexity came back to 1.6 this season and has been doing pretty well so far. Have they regained their skills from ages past? That remains to be seen yet. If anyone can explode this tournament however, it would definitely be compLexity.

#3 EG.usa 14-6
Hot off the win at GotFrag Revival Tournament, EG.usa comes into the playoffs with momentum. Whether or not that momentum will be enough to carry them to a win in the CEVO playoffs remains to be seen.
Although they are the third place finishers going into the playoffs, EG.usa very well could take the tournament. With the acquisition of Fadil “Nepo-” Canovic, it has taken some time for the team to gel back together and get into the grove of things. Expect great things from EG in the playoffs.

#4 Paragon of Virtue 13-7
PoV is a team that when they are on, they can win over some pretty good teams. When they are off however, the results are disastrous.
Only making it to the second round of GRT this past weekend, losing against Canadian squad sway, one would definitely count PoV out for the playoffs. With wins during the CEVO season against teams like x30, MoB and EG.usa, one would expect them to put up a better fight. Its hit or miss with the team. We’ll just have to wait and see what they decide to do.

#5 Mob Gaming 11-8
While taking a fifth place during the season, MoB is most assuredly a top contender for the tournament. Knocking EG.usa to the losers bracket in the final four of the GRT tournament last weekend, MoB proved that they can hang with the best, even though they lost two matches in the finals against EG again.
With the newest player on the team, Scott “evolution” Cavallero, MoB is still trying to find that all-important team chemistry. With a second place win in GRT #3, they almost have it Will they have it all figured out come the playoffs? We’ll just have to wait and see.

#6 Frag Dominant 12-10
Someone has to take the last position, and this time around its Frag Dominant. Making it further then PoV in the GRT tournament did prove however that they are a competitive team. Whether or not they will be able to break into the upper echelon during the playoffs however is questionable.
While they did beat MoB early in the CEVO season, the team lost many matches against the upper tier teams later in the season. Its going to take a lot of practice and some luck on their side of FD plans on taking the tournament.

It has been 2 long weeks since I had my surgery and I can honestly say that the sequence of events that immediately followed it, have been interesting to say
the least. Immediately after the procedure, while I was still in the hospital, I experienced chest pains and had to be monitored closely.
